At The Dance Company, our Competitive Division is designed for dancers who show unwavering dedication, discipline, and passion for their craft. We hold our competition team members to high standards—these dancers are consistent in attendance, committed to their growth, and show up for themselves and their teammates every day. They embrace challenges, push beyond their comfort zones, and continually strive to elevate their performance.

A Strive For Constant Improvment

All of our competitive dancers are expected to have a strong foundation in ballet technique. This includes:

• Several years of barre training and experience

• Ability to execute clean right and left splits

• Controlled and consistent pirouettes

• Proper execution of right, left, and center leaps

• Strong body awareness and alignment to ensure clean, precise movement

This technical base is essential for success on our competition teams, as it supports both individual performance and group choreography at the highest level.

At The Dance Company, we believe competitive dance is about more than just strong technique—it’s about delivering a captivating performance that leaves a lasting impression on the judges. Performing with confidence, emotion, and stage presence is a skill in itself, and one that takes time to develop.

That’s why we require all competitive dancers to have a minimum of three years of on-stage performance experience. This ensures they are prepared not only to execute choreography but to truly connect with the audience and bring each routine to life.
